Yesterday after Mass seven more ducks — mostly “mutts” of some kind — scooted off the trailer and joined the flock in the creek.

A neighbor stopped by the other day and dropped the dead trees, hangers, and widow-makers, so now we have a week or two worth of bucking, splitting, and stacking to do… and probably ten cords on the ground.

The pigs have three days left before they’re in the freezer — my talk of having the gilt bred this Winter has not resulted in the goat pasture fencing being completed, which is where we would keep the bred sow, so we likely won’t be having our own piglets this Spring.

Our thoughts and conversations recently have focused on forming and building community, and especially on the process of conflict and reconciliation that must needs accompany the true formation of society.
